There are so many ways to help at Travieso

Your Support

Makes Hearts and Tails Dance!

Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome volunteers to support the sanctuary in several ways:

  • Foster care & temporary dog support: Offering a caring home for dogs awaiting adoption, a great way to experience dog ownership before committing long-term.

  • Supply collection & transport: Gathering essential items like dog food, treats, bedding, and toys, or donating your porch for donation drop-offs.

  • Fundraising & awareness efforts: Organize online campaigns, birthday fundraisers, or in-person events, such as art auctions.

Locally collected items can be delivered or picked up in the Bay Area.

Please note: While the Ensenada sanctuary allows on-site visits and volunteering, transportation and housing are not provided.

  • Treats: new and open bags of dry treats are welcome; wet food must be unopened.

  • Bedding & Housing: clean, fur-free blankets, dog beds, cones, and kennel supplies.

  • Cleaning & Care Supplies: laundry detergent, disinfectants, vinegar, and cleaning materials.

  • Toys: clean, lightly used or new toys (no toys covered in pet saliva)

Items can be delivered to several Bay Area locations or picked up by sanctuary volunteers.

All donations must be in clean and good condition to ensure the health and safety of the dogs.

Giving & Sponsorship

Financial support helps us provide daily care, medical attention, and enrichment for our dogs. You can:

  • Sponsor a dog’s daily care, medical procedure, or ongoing sanctuary support.

  • Contribute to general operating expenses, including veterinary care, food, medications, and housing improvements.

  • Sponsor Travieso through brand partnerships! Our pups enjoy testing collars, toys, grooming items, and shampoos, and we proudly share your products with our community. Collaborate with us! Contact Tamara@traviesodogsancuary.com

Donations are 100% tax-deductible, and every contribution—large or small—makes a measurable difference in a dog’s life.

For ongoing support, we welcome recurring sponsorships at $25–$30 per week, or $100 per month, helping ensure consistency in care and enrichment.

Happy Tails Testimonials

We also encourage testimonial sharing as a way of giving back to the dogs: your stories of adoption, fostering, or supporting the sanctuary help inspire others to get involved. Short sentences about your experience are perfect. Please email: tamara@traviesodogsanctuary.com

“I am super impressed with what Tamara does to keep Travieso Dog Sanctuary running! She has dedicated volunteers at the sanctuary. They all keep the dogs exercised, clean, fed and healthy. The facility itself is clean and when I visited I never saw a thing out of place. Poop was picked up quick so the place never smelled bad, which is really something with 30 dogs and puppies! Tamara has a heart of gold and really loves every single dog she cares for. She knows each personality and takes care to match each with a family that will be good for that particular dog. I am so happy and excited to be involved in helping Travieso Dog Sanctuary establish nonprofit status so Tamara and her crew can do even more for the animals she rescues! “
