Every dog at Travieso is ready to leap into their new life healthy, happy, and cared for. Each pup is vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and socialized—many are potty trained, and the rest already off to a strong start. The adoption fee is just $400, covering all the essentials and giving your new best friend the perfect head start.

The process is simple: start with a quick call or Zoom with Tamara, then meet the pups at a scheduled time, or at our monthly gathering in Joaquin Miller Park. If it feels like a match, but you are hesitant for any reason, you can try a short trial (anything from a day to a full week) before making it official!

And here’s the best part: while the fee covers the basics, Tamara has already taken care of the big stuff—boarding, vet visits, even surgeries—so you’re getting way more value than the fee reflects.

    Violet was found at a taco stand when she was four months old. She was begging for scraps, and Tamara chose to give her a better life. Maybe her next level up is with you.

    Pixie was found running in the streets of Modesto. A fellow dog rescuer sent her with Tamara to be prepared for adoption. She’s so lovey, she’s such a good girl.

    Chloe was hit by a car and taken to California. They contacted Tamara to take her. She’s energetic and independent, and rebuilding trust after a rough start.

    Eartha and her sister, Kitt, were found in a trailer in Modesto under rough conditions. Her sister was adopted first, and Eartha is patiently awaiting her forever home.

    Buddy

    Buddy was found full of fleas at the swap meet at six weeks old and was lovingly called Baby for a long time. He recently graduated to using the name Buddy because he has become quite the gentleman, potty-trained, and everything.

    Tas was being given away in La Bufadora, and someone in Tamara’s local community group in Mexico reached out to find him a safe place to be. He was such a lovely puppy and has grown into a gorgous dog.

    Martine

    Martine was an owner surrender. He had been abused, and one of our volunteers’ daughters has found the way to his heart. He could become very attached to someone willing to help him feel safe again. He also loves playing with the other dogs and needs to go to a home with other dogs.

    Loba was found on the street by another rescue and brought to Travieso when she was 8 months old. She’s really come out of her shell at the sanctuary, loves to play, and will be someone’s adventure companion. Not to mention, she’s stunning to look at.

    Dennis

    Dennis came from another shelter with his sister, Suzanna, and her two puppies. The two puppies were the survivors of a litter of three, and they all needed a better place to be. Dennis is a character; he is shy and funny and will bring you endless smiles.

    Willow was born at another shelter that couldn’t care for her, and Tamara took possession when she was one day old. She loves car rides and adventures and isn’t a fan of living with a whole sanctuary full of dogs and would be best as an only child.

    Max was found at the CaliMax grocery store with a broken leg. We took him to the vet for surgery, and he is now fully rehabilitated and is now ready for adoption.

    Paloma was born with a partial front leg. She was found on the street in Mexico and taken to California Vet, where she was treated for a tick-borne disease and is in recovery. She has the most amazing temperament and loves to engage all the other dogs in play.

    Oso was found abandoned in a heap of trash and was brought to the shelter covered in fleas. He has made a full turnaround and is ready for immediate adoption.
